Parent Coaching
Parenting is hard. You don't have to figure it all out on your own.
Our Approach
Parent coaching at The Oaks gives parents a supportive space to step back from the day-to-day challenges of parenting and better understand what may be happening underneath their child's behavior. Our approach is informed by the Connected Families framework, which brings together research, brain science, trauma-sensitive principles, and practical parenting strategies. Rather than focusing only on stopping unwanted behaviors, we help parents think about connection, regulation, boundaries, and the messages children receive through everyday interactions.

What To Expect
Parent Coaching is typically offered as a 4-session package, that follows the Connected Families framework. Learn more about the package here.
-
We start by learning about your family, your child's temperament and needs, what's been difficult lately, and what you've already tried. Together, we'll identify patterns that may be contributing to recurring challenges and clarify what you want to change.
-
Using principles and tools informed by Connected Families, we'll help you look beyond the behavior itself and consider what's happening underneath it.
You'll learn practical ways to respond to difficult moments while strengthening connection, communicating clear boundaries, and helping your child build regulation and responsibility.
-
Parent coaching is designed to be practical. We'll talk about the situations actually happening in your home and help you identify strategies you can begin using between sessions.
As you practice, we'll continue to adjust based on what is and isn't working for your family.
Who Offers Parent Coaching?
The Connected Families framework is built around four powerful messages parents can communicate through their relationship with their child:
You are safe.
You are loved no matter what.
You are called and capable.
You are responsible for your actions.
